This section introduces the theme of 'Learning about bushfires' in the context of safety messages. The learning intention is to provide a basic awareness of fire safety and the different types of fire, with the focus of keeping everyone safe. These understandings play a key roleĀ as to why it is very important to learn about bushfire safety.


What is fire safety?

Overview: Children will be encouraged to explore the concept of safety in their daily lives. This session will introduce children to fire safety and why it is important to be safe around all fires.

Types of fires

Overview: Children will be encouraged to share their own experiences of fire in daily life. This session will help children understand the concept of fire and that some fires are helpful whilst others are very dangerous. Children will also explore the meaning of radiant heat and how it can cause fires.
